Hi! I'm Pilar

I'm a material designer & illustrator; after studying Fashion Design at the Polytechnic of Madrid and attending student programs & courses at NABA (Milan) and Central Saint Martins (London), I worked as fashion designer & product department between Italy, Spain and The Netherlands, collaborating with well-known international brands.  As a designer I am extremely curious; I believe that the world is full of inspiring objects and traditions, you just look with the right eyes.

Over the last years, I focused about the social & environmental impacts caused by the fashion industry, trying to change the way of production. "I chose the way I walk because I connected it with my ethical principles, my mindset is scouting materials & artisanal processes, ensuring responsible manufacturing in every step". This had led me to create in 2016 my own High-end knitwear label "Studio Artero", where I produced 100% natural fiber editions that respect the value of the craftsmen's work, to provide meaningful productions, preserving heritage craft traditions that would otherwise become obsolete and compensating its workers fairly.  "In an age where many things are mass-produced, it's important to return to the production of objects with soul".

Due the pandemic, I was forced to stop with productions. Studio Artero is currently in a moment of internal reflection, in order to be able to communicate it in a deeper and mature expression. This period of inner reflection has put me back in touch with the little girl who used to constantly drawing. Colors and textures have always dances through my head and my heart. During the pandemic I felt the need to create my imaginary scenes and trying to express myself through my illustrations. Each drawing has a storytelling, I believe that we create relationships of affection and memories with the ordinary things that are part of our lives.
